Meet Your Sleep Consultant in Toronto
My commitment: Honesty, realistic solutions and unlimited support
Hello, and welcome to better sleep!
I am Karla Jassoy, a Certified Birth and Postpartum doula and your sleep consultant in Toronto. I am certified with the Sleep Sense™ method and the owner of The Sleep Consultant That Could and The Doula That Could. For over 15 years, I have supported families on their parenting journey, from birth to postpartum, establishing breastfeeding and fostering good sleep habits.
As a mother of three, I learned that being the best we can be for our kids starts with feeling our best. As a leading sleep consultant and doula in Toronto, I specialize in helping families, including those who are exclusively breastfeeding, achieve restful nights and healthy sleep. Pediatricians in Toronto highly recommend my sleep support services, and I take pride in my ability to help improve sleep problems in children of all ages and needs. With my expert guidance and a tailored approach that supports the natural neurological development at each age, I provide parents with the knowledge and tools to create a stress-free sleep routine that respects their parenting preferences.
What is it like to work with me?
At The Sleep Consultant That Could, we pride ourselves on being a family-oriented sleep consultancy. Here’s why we stand out:
- Personalized Attention: We’re not a large agency where you’re just another client. We intentionally limit our client base each month to providing dedicated support. As a parent of three young children, I understand the importance of personalized care during this crucial time.
- Certified Expertise: As a Sleep Sense certified consultant, I bring evidence-based knowledge to every case. But that’s not all—our connection to the largest network of sleep consultants worldwide ensures we stay at the forefront of best practices.
- Continuous Learning: We’re committed to growth. Regular workshops and ongoing education keep us informed about the latest developments in pediatric sleep science, and you benefit from our up-to-date expertise.
- Support Network: Even the most challenging cases won’t stump us. If needed, we tap into a vast network of experienced professionals who provide guidance and solutions.
The first years of your baby’s life don’t have to be frustrating, exhausting or isolating. With the proper support customized to your needs and goals, sleep support guidance can help you regain control of your nights so you can be at your best the next day and deal with the important stuff, like celebrating your baby’s milestones.

What I do
Services
No two families have the same sleep challenges. Your family’s routine, schedules, health, and arrangements are significant factors to consider when developing the appropriate sleep plan. This is why I will ask you many questions before writing your sleep plan and during our consultation. We will maintain daily communication so I can ensure that we are following the plan and addressing any concerns.
I am working one-on-one with you, whether you choose to use email, messages or on-call support, I will be YOUR personal Sleep Consultant in Toronto.
Children with Special Needs
Your child wakes up once, twice, three (or more) times each night?
Frequent Night Wakings?
Early wake ups?
Depends on a pacifier, feeding to sleep or YOU?
The lack of sleep is affecting your family?
No a Cry-It-Out method
The Sleep Consultant that Could approach is an alternative to the ‘extinction method’, a parenting method many parents do not feel comfortable with. My method teaches you how to read your children’s cues and responds to their cries in a manner that shows them you are with them in every step of the process, and yet you are teaching them to develop the necessary skills to sleep independently. Even if there are some tears in the process, and you will have some, you will always be able to respond to your child without affecting the training.
Dedicated Support
From day 1 until the program’s end, you will have one-on-one support and extensive follow-up. When teaching our children to overcome their sleep challenges, I will provide you with the necessary resources and strategies to deal with any circumstance that might arise during the training. This support is important for all children, but it becomes especially important for a parent with a child that has special needs, so my support also includes strategies to overcome anxiety and teach self-regulation and relaxation techniques that conduct a smooth bedtime routine.
Inclusivity
The Sleep Consultant That Could is dedicated to create a safe and welcoming experience for all types of families, races, religious beliefs, LGBTQ and BIPGM communities.

This is a video of a client’s 11-months old baby self-soothing to sleep on day three of sleep training. You will see that baby is tossing, turning, and making noises until falling asleep independently at around the 10-minute mark. And although the baby is not crying, he still makes noises. This is normal behaviour and an encouraging sign that the baby is mastering his self-soothing skills. In this video, it takes 10 to 15 minutes for the baby to self-soothe to sleep, but it could take between 5 and 10 minutes as sleep training progresses. Isn’t IT wonderful. You kiss your baby good night, you turn the lights off, and the baby goes to sleep, easy peasy! You will also notice that the baby goes to his crib happy and uses a little stuffy that is safe to sleep with for his age.
